Floyd and Stove Position

We have a kitchen!!!!!

Yes, a rough stage, but we can cook, wash dishes and we have counters… plywood until the soapstone gets put in, but it’s such progress.

The centerpiece of our kitchen is a fully refurbished O’Keefe and Merritt range, who I’ve not named yet… Ursula, Loretta…

Anyway, stove placement is one of the majors for the inside of the home. Ours faces North – Northwest, which is a very auspicious direction for me and Tom, who are western Gua 8s. It’s complicated, but one universal no-no for stoves is if they are directly opposite the sink. Noooooo-that’s exactly our setup. The cure for this is to place wood between the two-in our case a really, really, really narrow island or something that.

Earth and Healing

Fixing Floyd’s Flora

Floyd, our house, age: 109 years and counting.

When we purchased Floyd, he was overwrought with ivy; it was literally everywhere. It was holding up the fence, and covered almost every inch of the ground outside. The fence was falling over, so we had to clear the way for a new fence.

The guys worked on the yard for days, with machetes! But we can finally see the earth through the ivy (and a slow, children at play sign, and a leaf blower)

It is said in Classical Feng Shui that you can identify a good property by the quality of the earth. It should be rich, brown and should kind of hold together if you squeeze it shut in your fist. I’m happy to report that Floyd possesses good soil!

If the soil is poor, so goes the chi, and the Feng Shui.

In Classical Feng Shui, a potential buyer would check the soil. Today, many of us don’t have the luxury, or frankly, the soil to check. So how do you tell?

Does anything grow around your property? Even weeds suggest an environment for growth. Do you grow plants? How do they do? Plant killing people notwithstanding.

Earth is a vital element in Feng Shui and assists in grounding people, creating boundaries and processing grief.

So, get out in your garden, pull some ivy, plant some flowers or work on that path. It’s good for your health as well as the health of Chi in your home.

Bye, Bye Cujo

I’m getting a paint job in my secret room, also known as my Cujo room! Here’s my before and after with Swiss Coffee walls and Pure White trim – Floyd

Enhancing Romance for 2020

For those of you who follow our antics with our new (108 year old) house, Floyd, you know that Floyd has lots of charming character. One of his recent gifts are these small ceramic ducks in our bathroom glued to the chair rail. I managed to remove a few, and this pair is a gift for a friend seeking a mate.

Pairs of ducks, cranes and birds in general is a symbol and a cure to achieve a good relationship that will lead to marriage. This pair is a female and a drake-they should be equal-ish in size to assist in equality in a relationship. Photos of pairs of birds work too. These go next to the bed on a side table for this friend based on the Bagua of that home, but a good place to put them is in the Southwest of your home or bedroom.

Bye Bye Built-ins

Floyd is coming along!

We finally moved in on Saturday Dec 7. He immediately revealed a plumbing emergency. The sewer line is running in the opposite tilt and is leaking into the kitchen! In order to do the plumbing and electrical right, the built-ins had to go.
